Mathematics
By means of adult-supported practical experience, children become familiar with sorting, matching, ordering, sequencing and counting activities, which forms the basis for early mathematics.- They use their knowledge and skills in these areas to solve problems, generate new questions and make connections.
- Children are given time, space and encouragement to discover and use new words and mathematical ideas, concepts and language during child-initiated activities in their own play.
- Songs, games and picture books help children become aware of number sequences and, when they are ready, to use simple mathematical operations such as adding.
